A Brief Look at Our History
S ervices began
October 13, 1957 in the cafeteria of the Granville (now Brown
Deer) High School. On Organization Sunday, November 3 ,
1957,
42 people were received into membership.
The 113 members joining that first year were considered the
charter members.
C onstruction plans were
developed for a church building and a parsonage and a
Groundbreaking ceremony was held December 21, 1958. The Brown
Deer Community Methodist Church (our name prior to 1969) and
the parsonage were completed in September 1959.
The first service in the building was on World Communion
Sunday, October 4, 1959 with the Consecration Service held on
December 13, 1959.
T he 1970s brought plans for a
building addition and remodeling of the original sanctuary.
The Consecretion Sunday for the new sanctuary and education
wing was on December 17, 1978.
The original parsonage was remodeled in 1988 for office and
addtional classroom facilities.
Full-time Christian daycare "Angel Care" was added and
renovation of the worship and educational areas was completed
in 1998.
